KITE & WING SCHEDULE

[ How Scheduling Works ]

Kiteboarding and wing foiling lessons are heavily weather and wind dependent. Because conditions can change quickly, we typically post lesson availability only when forecasts look favorable for safe and productive sessions.

We do not force lessons in poor conditions.

Our goal is to maximize progression and water time — not simply get students onto the schedule.

When conditions line up:

  • Lessons are posted and can be booked directly online via each lesson page
  • Email alerts are sent to subscribers and past purchasers
  • Reservations are first-come, first-served

We strongly recommend joining our schedule alerts to stay updated on upcoming wind windows and lesson opportunities.

Below is Kainetic Adventure’s turnkey wind and weather forecast grading system.

Wind Quality (A–F): Our rating of how good the expected riding conditions are, with A being excellent and F being not recommended.

Forecast Confidence (%): How likely we believe that forecast is to hold true. Higher percentages indicate greater confidence in the prediction. As the forecast gets closer, confidence typically increases and conditions may be upgraded or downgraded accordingly.

cancellation & weather policy

[ It Happens ]

As an outdoor adventure company, all lessons are weather dependent.

If conditions are unsafe, unsuitable, or there is insufficient wind (specifically for kite and wing lessons) to safely complete the lesson, sessions may be:

  • Rescheduled
  • Issued partial credit
  • Issued prorated lesson credit depending on completed time

Our priority is always rider safety and creating productive learning conditions.

Because weather forecasts constantly evolve, we ask riders to remain flexible and monitor communication leading up to their scheduled lesson.

FAQ

[ frequently asked questions ]

Do I need experience to take a lesson?

No experience is necessary. We work with complete beginners, first-time riders, families, and experienced watersports athletes looking to progress into new disciplines like foiling or kiteboarding.

E-foiling is generally the easiest and fastest way to experience hydrofoiling for the first time because it doesn’t rely on wind or waves.

For wind sports, wing foiling typically has a more approachable learning curve than kiteboarding.

Kiteboarding has a steeper learning curve than many watersports because riders are learning several independent skills at once, including kite control, wind awareness, and board riding.

Students with backgrounds in surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, or other board sports often progress faster, but most able-bodied people can learn safely with proper instruction and enough time on the water.

From a safety perspective, we do not recommend this.

Kiteboarding and wing foiling should always be learned through professional instruction in a safe environment. Wind, equipment, and environmental awareness are critical parts of learning the sport safely and responsibly.

Kiteboarding uses a large controllable kite attached to the rider through a harness, while wing foiling uses a handheld inflatable wing paired with a hydrofoil board.

Wing foiling doesn’t need a large open space to launch, like kiteboarding requires, and has a more approachable learning curve, while kiteboarding often offers more power, speed, and advanced progression opportunities long-term.

That depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for.

  • E-foiling → easiest foil experience with no wind required
  • Wing foiling → best introduction to wind sports and hydrofoiling
  • Surfing → classic ocean experience and wave fundamentals
  • Kiteboarding → most rewarding long-term progression sport
  • Wake foiling → controlled learning environment behind the boat

Lesson duration varies by sport and conditions. Most sessions range from 1.5–2 hours minimum, though kiteboarding lessons last up to 5+ hours depending on wind and progression.

Because wind sports rely on changing weather conditions, we recommend keeping your schedule flexible on lesson days whenever possible.

Most kiteboarding and wing foiling lessons take place at Kite Island in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey. Surfing, prone foiling, wake foiling, and e-foiling sessions may launch from different locations depending on conditions and lesson type.

Detailed meeting information is provided before your session.

Kiteboarding and wing foiling are highly weather dependent. Rather than forcing lessons in poor conditions, we wait until forecasts look favorable before posting lesson availability.

This helps maximize progression, safety, and overall time on the water.

If weather or wind conditions become unfavorable or unsafe, sessions may be rescheduled or issued prorated credit depending on the amount of completed lesson time.

Safety and productive conditions always come first. See our cancellation policies above for further details.

Yes. Riders should be comfortable swimming and spending time in open water while wearing a life vest.

Most foil sports and kiteboarding lessons are best suited for riders ages 12+ depending on size, comfort in the water, and conditions. For kiteboarding, we recommend ages 15+.

Surf lessons may be appropriate for younger riders depending on experience and conditions.

Wetsuit needs vary depending on the season. The below recommendations are in your best interest.

Spring & Fall

  • 4/3 full wetsuit recommended
  • Hood and gloves may be needed in colder months

Early Summer & September

  • 3/2 wetsuit or shorty recommended

Peak Summer

  • Most riders are comfortable without a wetsuit

We highly recommend Green Hat for beginner packages, wetsuits, harnesses, foil equipment, and expert gear guidance.

Most lessons are taught in small-group formats, typically 2:1 student-to-instructor ratios, though some sessions may operate 1:1 depending on scheduling and conditions.

Yes — it’s one of the best beginner learning environments on the East Coast.

The shallow water, open space, and consistent conditions allow riders to safely build confidence while spending more time practicing and less time recovering equipment.
