Kite Jump OBX 22

FAQ's

  1. Is Kiteboarding difficult to learn?  Depending on the background  of the student, the learning curve can be quite different. We have found that those who have a background in surfing, snowboarding or wake boarding tend to learn slightly quicker than others. Bottom line, most able body people will be able to learn with the right instruction.
  2.  Should one take lessons to learn to Kiteboard? Absolutely! Kiteboarding can be a dangerous sport to you and others if not practiced in safe environment. You should only learn to kiteboard from a certified instructor IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) or another globally recognized organization. Kiteboarding should be practiced  in a safe environment away from any pedestrians or fixed objects.
  3. How Long are lessons? We guarantee three hours on the water. However, most of our lessons last upto five to six hours. We will do our best to keep you on the water as long as we deem it safe and there is enough wind to complete the lesson. We encourage you to bring water, sunscreen and snacks so that you maintain energy throughout the lesson.
  4. Should I purchase my own gear? We recommend that you purchase gear after you complete lesson 2 “Board Skills”.
  5. Can I use my own gear for the lesson? We ask that you use our gear (included in the cost) for the first two lessons. Reason being that we want to  ensure you are on the optimal setup at all times. We might change out kite sizes several times throughout the lesson depending on conditions and progression.
  6. Do I need a wetsuit? Yes, if you are taking a lesson in May,June, late Sept & Oct, you will need to bring your own or purchase one through our partners Greenhat Kiteboarding who carry a full range of wetsuits.
  7. Do I need to get certified as a student? There are some kiteboarding spots around the world that will ask to see your certification card before allowing you to kiteboard or rent gear from their spot. Getting certified means you have reached a specific level of skill and are able to ride in a safe manner relative to the conditions.
  8. What happens when there is no wind? We do our very best to predict wind and will only hold lessons and island rides if we have a high confidence there will be sufficient wind for the day. See our Kiteboarding Schedule for updates and our forecast model. In the event that our forecast models are inaccurate, we will give you credit for the day on a prorated basis. See our Cancellation Policy for further information.
